The imperceptible investigations of Emilio Ajar N°1
Florian HUET & Emilio AJAR
20 €
In a 2011 book, Florian was linking Edvard Munch, Bryan Stanley Johnson and José Lezama Lima. This link was tenuous, almost invisible, and its presence was no real stake neither for the book nor for the reader. In fact, even Florian did not realize it.

Being sensitive to this kind of strange and insignificant associations, I began juxtaposing quotations from the books and notes of these three protagonists. These impossible dialogues I sent them to Florian.

A few months after the first mailing I received the draft of what later became The imperceptible investigations of Emilio Ajar. Florian had used these impossible dialogues to draw a series of images, a series of holed images.

"The metal needle approaches the paper, the fist holds it and compresses it firmly, the forearm contracts: the tip pierces the paper. It comes out with a “plop”." (excerpt from the preface)

The imperceptible investigations are a series of booklets created by Florian Huet and Emilio Ajar whose images are printed by practicing a multitude of small holes in the paper.
The holes are made by a machine, a needling printer made by Florian Huet in his garage: la poinçonneuse.

The images obtained are delicate, the paper pierced with a multitude of holes becomes a lace to decipher.
